EARA is an independent research project for the collection, preservation and digital restoration of records found across East Asia.
Some of these documents were found severely damaged. Reading and digital restoration are proceeding in stages.

When a record is read, a figure such as 81% appears under the document number. It is the share of the original used for that collation which was read intact.
The remainder is filled in by inference; those are the passages shown faintly. When the hour of birth is unknown the latter-soul seat is left empty, and the figure falls further.
The same person receives the same figure whenever they read, because the original used for collation is the same.
※ This is not the same as the overall 37% in the ledger above. The overall figure is how much of the document has been worked on; the reading figure is how much of the part used for one record was legible.
Sentences restored by inference may differ from the original. Each revision raises the edition number, and glyphs read in an earlier edition are sometimes overturned.
This project restores the document. It does not judge whether what it says is true.
